The Camden Lions suffered a heartbreaker in the semifinals of the Region 6AA tournament, falling to Gibson County on a 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Lions fought back from a 19-3 first quarter deficit before losing 47-44 in the final moment. This loss left them in third place in the region, with no chance to move forward.
Wizdom Laws was leading scorer for the Lions with 12 points, while Ayden Melton added 9. Nowah Porter chipped in 8, with both Briley Siler and Allan Zyla contributing 6 apiece.
Tucker Jackson rounded out the scoring with 3.
The Lions finish the season with a record of 25-8.
They also finish with a perfect record in District 11AA, as well as a District Tournament Championship for two years running. The Chronicle congratulates the Lions on a great season and wishes all of the seniors the best.
“I am proud of these students and this team. They fought hard all the way through, all the way to the buzzer,” said Coach Dave Roberts. “We had a strong season overall, and I’m excited for the achievement of back-to-back District 11AA championships. I look forward to hitting the boards with another great team next season.”
